Every weekend near the bridge connecting across Sungai Ara to Kenari area, there’s a little truck that sets up in the morning and serves freshly brewed coffee to the morning crowd of market goers and the park go-ers of Taman Jajar Sungai Ara Linear Park. This coffee truck is run by 2F+ Coffee Roastery that has two physical outlets in Relau and Balik Pulau.
The outlet in Relau, is sort of “hidden”. Right across The Golden Triangle apartments is a row of shophouses. When you find the particular shophouse covered in creeper plants and green foliage, that’s 2F+ Coffee Roastery. Even the interior of the cafe is decorated with plants, giving it a very soothing and homey ambience. Right next door to the cafe is their own roastery where they also run classes for coffee enthusiasts whom wish to learn the art of roasting coffee beans!
The cafe menu boasts a wide range of items ranging from pastas, burgers, rice, western food and waffles. The aroma of coffee wafts in the air as soon as you step in and are guided to your table.
We had ordered their Pork Cheese Burger which is soy marinated pork slices, bacon, cheese and greens sandwiched in a soft toasted bun with a side of shoestring fries. Their Carbonara however is more of an Alfredo made of cream based sauce with garlic, bacon, chicken and mushrooms. Not photographed was their Bread Lasagna which is made with slices of bread replacing the lasagna pasta layered with mushrooms, chicken, sliced cheese and their homemade tomato sauce, topped with Mozarella cheese. And of course, we couldn’t resist trying their waffles so we had their Mango Mango which is a freshly made waffle topped with fresh sweet mangoes, strawberries and ice-cream – absolutely delish!
Having their coffee is a must obviously since they are a roastery! We had their Single Origin Hot Dirty Latte, Flat White and Coffee Orange – made with their Classic Blend which has a nutty, chocolatey and low acidity flavour. The Coffee Orange is definitely unique, freshly brewed iced coffee with Cointreau syrup and a fresh slice of orange. Quite refreshing.
Besides what is available in the menu, they do have a cake counter next to the cashier if you’re interested in more desserts.
And apart all the food they serve, they do have a section of their own products available for purchase ranging from coffee beans, tote bags, brewing equipment and plants. You can even sign up for basic barista lessons, latte art and also brewing classes.
