Tucked in a corner of a commercial skyscraper at the north of Penang island is a little cake shop – Koji Cakes and Desserts. A family-owned business, Koji has a variety of cakes and all are freshly made by them and these bitches had a hard time deciding what we wanted.

The Swiss rolls was very light and fluffy, filled with fresh cream and fruits. Not very sweet and just nice. You won’t feel like it’s too creamy.
Most places will make their Tiramisu really sweet but at Koji, it’s barely sweet and you can taste the mild bitterness from the coffee which complements their Bailey’s infused mascarpone.

If you’re a tea fan, this cake is definitely a must! It was very moist and compact. We paired it with their Iced Earl Grey with Grapefruit – perfect, really.

The highlight of our visit was this piece of Ondeh Ondeh Cake is the best cake we have eaten in a long time!
Koji has raised the standard of great dessert here in Penang!
The flavour combination of gula melaka, pandan and fresh coconut flakes explodes your mouth in one go! The cake is layered nicely and the texture stays standing while we keep on digging with our forks. The cake is not too sweet, just nicely done.
Sort of regretting not buying back some of their other cakes home to try. Oh well, next round then!
Seating wise, they have 2 tables for dining in which seats two and four people so it’s a first-come-first-served kinda situation. So if you want to dine in, make sure Lady Luck is with you or just, takeaway and enjoy it back home or in your car! Oh before we forget, the do serve coffee and tea as well.
